Making the World Nonviolent for Everyone
Our aim is to help create a nonviolent world; that is, a world in which violence is never used by any individual for any purpose and in which political, economic and social structures do not have violence built into them. In the world of our vision, everyone will benefit by being part of a just, peaceful and ecologically sustainable community.
We have developed a detailed strategy to tackle the fundamental cause of violence and all of its many symptoms, and we are now implementing this strategy. This strategy is the result of decades of research and action, and involves five key areas of engagement:
- To raise awareness among the entire human population that human violence is the preeminent problem faced by our species
- To raise awareness among the entire human population of the need to tackle this violence strategically
- To mobilise involvement in this effort
- To assist in the development and implementation of locally appropriate strategies to tackle violence (whether, for example, to end violence against children, to resist war, to comprehensively tackle the full spectrum of development, social justice and environmental problems, or to liberate populations living under military dictatorship or occupation)
- To provide education and support for these efforts
Our strategy is based on five main projects: The People’s Charter to Create a Nonviolent World, The Flame Tree Project to Save Life on Earth, Why Violence? and the development of nonviolent defence/liberation strategies based on Robert Burrowes’ book The Strategy of Nonviolent Defense: A Gandhian Approach, the essence of which is now online at Nonviolent Defense/Liberation Strategy. Separately from this, the website Nonviolent Campaign Strategy describes how to plan and implement a nonviolent strategy to achieve a peace, environmental or social justice outcome.
These projects are explained on their respective websites.
We need financial support to do this work and ask you to consider being one of the people who makes it possible.
